Why I won’t pay N5m adultery fine – Daddy Freeze

Controversial On-Air Personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has declared that he will not pay the N5 million fine upheld by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt for alleged adultery with Benedicta Elechi. Daddy Freeze insists that the allegations are false and claims he would rather give the money to those in need than pay the fine.

The case stems from a ruling by a Rivers State High Court in February 2021, which ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5 million for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi. Dissatisfied with the High Court’s decision, Daddy Freeze appealed to the Court of Appeal, but the ruling was upheld.

Despite the court’s decision, Daddy Freeze maintains his innocence and argues that he did not have an affair with a married woman. He believes that the allegations and subsequent fine are unjust and plans to continue speaking out against them.

“I’ve never slept with any man’s wife before. I’m not guilty of any adultery,” Daddy Freeze  said.

He also expressed his willingness to send the money to those in need, but asserted that he will never pay for the fine, saying, “I’ll not pay the 5 million naira adultery fine  but I can send them N5m to feed”

He further emphasised his innocence, stating that the issue happened 12 years ago.

“My watches alone cost over 100 million naira, but I am innocent, and I will not lose. This happened many years ago; this happened over 12 years ago,” he stated partly.
