Katsina government launches committee for federal rice distribution

On Monday, the Acting Governor of Katsina State, Farouk Jobe, inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to manage the distribution of rice allocated to the state by the Federal Government. Katsina State received 20 trucks of rice, and the state government has arranged logistics for distributing the rice to various local government areas.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Information and Culture, Bala Zango, announced that the committee will be led by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari. The committee’s responsibilities include verifying the number of rice bags received and devising a distribution method for the state’s 34 local government areas. The committee is expected to submit a report within three weeks, ensuring that the distribution is fair and transparent, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as widows, divorcees, and the elderly.

Committee members include the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Service Administration Reform, the Commissioner for Special Duties, the Commissioner of Information and Culture, a representative of the State House of Assembly, the Managing Director of the State Irrigation Authority, the Executive Chairman of the Zakkat and Waqab Board, the Commander of the Hisbah Board, and the Chairman of ALGON.
