Less than 48 hours to the planned nationwide protests against hardship in the country, a group of persons has taken to the streets of Lagos, sternly warning residents against participating in the August 1 protest.
The unknown persons, who appeared in a viral video clip posted by a social media user Olyindamola on an X handle @dammiedammie35, were spotted at a crowded marketplace, warning residents of Lagos against joining the protests slated for Thursday.
Speaking in Yoruba language with a public address system, one of the men said: “If you are fit, come out on Thursday and see…” While another warned the people against the economic consequences of arson during the planned protests.
In another viral video posted on Instagram, traditionalists were seen on a street of Ikorodu area of Lagos State also warning against the planned protest.
While President Bola Tinubu hails from Lagos State, LEADERSHIP was unable to independently verify whether the threats by the unknown persons were sanctioned by the State government as a form of support for the Tinubu administration.
