Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has faced backlash from netizens after calling Nigerians ‘sore losers’ in response to the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest that shut down several cities yesterday.
During an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Abiodun made comments that many perceived as insensitive, given the public’s dissatisfaction with the hardships experienced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“The problem we have today is that Nigerians are sore losers. Rather than accept that if you want a regime change, wait till 2027. Don’t begin to sponsor faceless, leaderless protests under the guise that you are dissatisfied. The current realities are not peculiar to Nigeria alone.”
These remarks sparked outrage among Nigerians, who took to X to criticize him.

“Nigerians, over to you! This incompetent person called Nigerians ‘sore losers’! The audacity to undermine the efforts of hardworking Nigerians demanding a better country. I blame the people of Ogun State for dishing out this trash to the public!”
“Gov. Dapo Abiodun is one of the most useless governors I have ever seen. We must #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria by force by fire.”
“History will judge Osibajo who used federal might to impose this useless man on Ogun people. He has proved to be very useless beyond reasonable doubt.”
“Dapo Abiodun, you and your family are the losers. You can’t even fix roads. I don’t know how the people of Ogun State tolerated this….”
