Nigeria’s National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) deputy manager, Murtala Muhammad, revealed that over 8,000 illegal refineries and 5,800 illegal oil pipeline connections were destroyed in the last six months.
He highlighted the threat of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism to Nigeria’s economy, citing hot spots like Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo, and Abia. NNPCL Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, suggested that Nigeria could produce 3 million barrels of crude oil per day, citing political will from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies.
