Concerns grow as helicopter circles Dokubo’s house

BLUEPRINT

Some community leaders and residents in Obuama, Rivers state, have raised concerns about a mysterious unmarked helicopter flying over the home of Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, Alabo Edi-Abali of Kalabari Kingdom.

According to the leaders, during the recent local government elections in the state, two unmarked helicopters with armed men flew low over Obuama and Dokubo-Asari’s residence.

“Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, has been a longstanding advocate for resource control and minority rights. As the leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF), he has fought tirelessly for the rights of the Ijaw people and other marginalized communities,” said Mr James Titus, a community leader in Obuama.

Residents, including older people, are uneasy as the town is typically peaceful and hosts an army formation. The unknown affiliation and mission of the helicopters have sparked anxiety. “We are living in fear, not knowing what these helicopters are here for,” said Mrs. Blessing Ebenezer, a 65-year-old resident. “We can’t sleep at night, thinking something terrible might happen.”

Chief Barr. Opuene, a community leader, expressed similar concerns: “The presence of these unmarked helicopters is unsettling. We urge authorities to investigate and reassure us of our safety.”
