Warri refinery: Niger Delta group demands full operations, youth empowerment

The Niger Delta Youth Council, a sociopolitical group in the South-South region, has urged President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to ensure that the newly revamped Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company operates at full capacity.

Commending the president for resuscitating the once-moribund refinery, the group highlighted the economic advantages of consistent production at local refineries.

“It will be a great boost for the nation’s economy and the Niger Delta region if the 60,000 barrels-per-day old Port Harcourt Refinery and the 125,000 barrels-per-day Warri Refinery could produce consistently to meet the country’s energy demand and eventually push down the price of petroleum products,” the group stated.

In a statement signed by NDYC President Bene Youkore Mamamu, and distributed to journalists in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, the group praised NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari for his commitment to restoring operations at the Niger Delta refineries…
