Many of us like to think our sex lives are crawling with excitement.
Some may even say they like the idea of being caught in a web of fantasies.
But it turns out spiders are the reason why some men are still able to get frisky.
Silk spun by the little creepy crawlies is actually being used to help impotent men boost their sex lives.
According to The Sun, the really strong stands have been implanted into the private parts of blokes to help them get turned on following prostate surgery.
It led to some being able to get pretty excited in as little as three months after the procedure.
According to reports, it really does seem to be a bug’s life, as the treatment is said to offer hope to thousands of Brits who’ve been left impotent following nerve damage brought on by prostate cancer surgery.
It’s reported researchers took gossamer strands from the golden silk orb-weaver spider – a species whose webs can even put up a good fight against tropical storms.
Six blokes in their 50s saw them get attached to both ends of a severed nerve and – weeks later – the nerves grew back.
As well as this, their sex drive bounced back just 12 weeks later too.
Two other men also said their libidos improved, with only one participant having failed to respond to the treatment.
Researcher Dr Nina Harke, of Hannover Medical School in Germany, said: “Spider silk is a promising new biomaterial.
“It’s safe, supports nerve regeneration and it’s tough and elastic.”
In other developments, tech outfit Newrotex is also working on producing tiny tubes from spider and worm silk which can aid the development of damaged nerves by helping them grow up to 6cm.
