‘Pharaoh’s Curse’ origin uncovered as experts suggest what caused mystery deaths

The secret of the “Pharaoh’s Curse” might have been solved as experts reckon radioactive waste is lingering in unopened tombs.

A string of deaths followed the opening of the iconic Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Four of the men involved in the opening of the tomb, including the bloke who financed the excavation, all died between four months and 16 years after it was opened.

A speculative curse has since lingered around the site and has become a superstitious legend for archaeologists hoping to dig out the rest of ancient Egypt’s hidden tombs. But researchers may have cracked the cause of the curse.

Research from the Journal of Scientific Exploration (JSE) claims many of the ancient tombs scattered around Egypt are filled with enough radioactivity to cause cancer, radiation sickness and eventually kill those who enter.
