Dr Kingsley Moghalu, Presidential Candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, at the 2019 Presidential Election and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has stated the reason he no longer grant interviews on the Nigerian economy.

The political economist said despite  the fact that he had spoken a lot on how to fix the Nigerian economy, that seems to have fallen on deaf ears. “There is no point in a dialogue of the deaf
,” he stated.

Moghalu made this statement in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday 10 September, 2024.

He wrote: “I’ve declined virtually all requests for interviews on the Nigerian economy from Nigerian media over the past several months. Why? There is no point in a dialogue of the deaf. I’ve already spoken a lot about how to fix Nigeria’s economy. Anyone interested can find what I’ve said.”

Moghalu also stated on Friday 6 Septenber via his Facebook page that Africa’s dialogues with the great powers are unlikely to yield the kind of transformation Asian countries have witnessed in past decades, adding that development can only be achieved by using the bottom-up approach from within, by both the political elite and the masses, rather than the top-down approach from without.

He stated:  “Any way you slice it, Africa’s “dialogues” with the great powers are unlikely to yield the kind of transformation Asian countries have witnessed in past decades. Development begins in the mind and is driven first by a clear understanding of the world, national ambition, values, and strategy.

“it can’t be imposed top-down from outside, but must be bottom-up and driven from inside countries themselves, and by BOTH the leaders (political elite) and the led (citizens).”
