A 25-year-old teacher accused of having sexual relationships with as many as 12 boys after “luring them vapes” is reported to have told officers she was pregnant as she was taken into custody.
Former high school science teacher Jaden Charles was arrested in March and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of grooming. Her bond was set at $400,000, according to jail records. Her own mum is even believed to have grassed on her to police.
The young teacher, who used to work at a school in Texas, was arrested after Alice city marshals looked into reports of students vaping at school. City Marshal Joe Martinez has said the teacher gave vapes to the kids over a year and a half ago, even before she started teaching.
Chief of Alice Police Eden Garcia told Scripps News Corpus Christi that Charles told arresting officers she was pregnant when she was taken into custody, and officials have added there may be as many as 12 alleged victims in the case.
Charles decided to leave her job at the school after the allegations came to light. Marshal Martinez shared Charles allegedly had inappropriate contact with two students before she took up employment at the school, as per local reports.
Authorities are still investigating the case and hope to talk to more possible victims, but at least five different male students – four of whom police said confirmed improper relationships with Charles and that she was providing THC vapes and alcohol to some students – have already been interviewed. Marshal Martinez said back in March: “I think we’re going to add up several more charges.”
Some parents told the police they were worried because their kids went off with a teacher. Chief Garcia told KIII 3 News: “We do have parents that were concerned and made some calls about their children being with a teacher. We do have video of the teacher with a student at one of the hotels.”
