Nigerian Soldiers storm Bandits’ Hideout in Benue, kill 5

Soldiers of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have killed five armed bandits who attacked a community in Makurdi local government area of Benue state, Daily Trust reported.

The newspaper stated the soldiers raided the bandits’ hideouts within the borders of Benue and Nasarawa states on Saturday, April 17.

Legit.ng gathers that the bandits had earlier attacked Anune villagers, a rural community in the outskirts of Makurdi LGA, and allegedly killed unspecified numbers of people.

A witness said a military helicopter was seen hovering around the affected village between 9am and 10am on Saturday just as soldiers and police moved around in trucks.

The witness added that the security operatives drove into the forest area where the alleged bandits had earlier retreated and that before long, the soldiers’ were seen returning with at least five dead bodies of the suspected bandits.
