Sound Sultan, one of Nigeria’s star musicians, has been buried in New Jersey.
Sound Sultan died on Sunday after battling lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, his family said in a statement.
He was 44.
The popular Nigerian singer was buried in the U.S. according to Islamic rites.
In photos seen by Peoples Gazette, his tearful widow, Farida Fasasi, relatives and friends wore black dresses as they mourned and buried the deceased.
Nigerian artiste Olamide was at the funeral.
Born Olanrewaju Fasasi, Sound Sultan dominated Nigeria’s music in the early and mid-2000s, releasing hits like Jagbajantis, Bushmeat, and Follow Me Go.
Many Nigerians have been paying tributes to the late singer.
