1. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has discovered $72.87 million linked to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. The EFCC said this while confirming the arrest of Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo, a former Managing Director of Fidelity Bank.
2. ASUU has refuted the claim of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, that N52.12 billion was given to the union. Addressing the press on Wednesday, the Kano Zonal Coordinator of the union, Comrade Abdulkadir Muhammad, said only N22.17 billion was released as Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) out of which only 75% (N16.6bn) was released to members of the union while the remaining 25% was for other sister unions.
3. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved “peculiar allowance” for the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to take effect from January 2022. The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, announced this Wednesday while briefing State House reporters after the federal cabinet meeting held at the newly upgraded Council Chambers of the Presidential, Villa Abuja.
4. The Senate on Wednesday approved the sum of $5.8 billion and a grant component of $10 million under the 2018-2020 External Borrowing (Rolling) plan. The approval followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts.
5. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, has said if not for the actions of President Muhammadu Buhari, terrorists would have declared Islamic State in Nigeria. Addressing reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, the minister said posterity will be kind to Buhari, whom he said has made security one of the cardinal focuses of his administration.
6. The Federal Government, on Wednesday, arraigned 15 suspected invaders of the residence of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili, at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The suspects were arraigned before Justice Nkeonye Maha on 18-count amended charge bordering on forgery, criminal trespass, intimidation, extortion, among others, contrary to the sections of the law.
7. The Police Command in Kaduna State, says its operative have arrested 305 suspects for banditry, armed robbery and kidnapping between January and November 2021. A statement by the command said 242 of those arrested are being prosecuted by various courts within the state.
8. Armed men suspected to be bandits have killed a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rilwanu Gadagau, along the Kaduna-Zaria highway. Speaker of the Assembly, Yusuf Zailani confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, describing the death of the lawmaker as devastating.
9. The Operatives of the Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested four suspects in connection with the abduction and gruesome killing of the late Mrs Nneka Nwanyi-Sunday Emeh Kalu, who was earlier reported missing and later found dead in a cassava farm on 29th August 2021 in Ngugworo Community in Nguzu Edda in Afikpo South, Ebonyi State.
10. A 21-year-old man, Odunare Olalekan, took his life by diving into the lagoon in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Tuesday. In a viral video, Olalekan, who was seen sitting on the handrail of a bridge, suddenly jumped into the water around Berger Bridge, Epe.
