Six injured in Police Helicopter Accident as AIB commences investigation

At least six persons were injured in a helicopter accident involving the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Wednesday in Baluchi.

This is as the Accident Investigation Bureau -Nigeria (AIB-N) said it has commenced investigation into the cause of the air crash.

The helicopter, a Bell 429 with the registration number: 5N-MDA was owned and operated by Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

A statement by Mr Tunji Oketunbi, the General Manager, Public Affairs, AIB-N, said that the bureau was notified of the accident on Thursday, January 26, 2022, by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

The accident he said occurred on January 26, 2022, around 7:30 pm (Local Time) at Bauchi Airport.

The NPF helicopter had departed Abuja at 16:54 UTC for Bauchi with six persons onboard maintaining 5,500ft, Oketunbi said.

He, however, said that there was no fatality.
