Customers scamper for safety as fire guts Onitsha UBA branch

Two customers of United Bank of Africa (UBA), Friday, escaped death from an inferno that gutted a branch of the bank located at opposite Ejison Plaza main market, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Sources said the fire which started around 10:00am following a heat in the generating set inside the bank, led to destruction of some windows and doors of the bank as customers scampered for safety.

Confirming the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police rescued the victims as well as helped to put off the fire.

Ikenga said, “Today 15/7/2022 at about 10:am, Anambra State Police Operatives rescued two victims of fire incident at UBA bank, opposite Ejison Plaza main market, Onitsha. Preliminary information reveals that the fire incident emanated from heat in the generator inside the bank.
