Nigeria’s president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken to social media to thank Nigerians for helping him to victory in the just concluded 2023 presidential election.
Naija News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate was declared the winner of the presidential election conducted across Nigerian states last Saturday.
His victory was confirmed by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, who later presented the former Governor of Lagos State and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, a Certificate of Return in Abuja on Wednesday.
Tinubu had delivered his victory acceptance speech earlier. He, however, sees it necessary to thank Nigerians again for his emergence as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle hours after receiving the certificate of return, Tinubu said: “Earlier today Senator Kashim Shettima and I received our certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), signifying our successful election. I am humbled and I pledge to work to the utmost of my ability to make Nigeria better. Thank you, Nigeria.”
Gov Buni Reacts To Tinubu’s Emergence As President-Elect
Meanwhile, former national chairman of the APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has described Tinubu’s victory at the poll as the best thing to happen to Nigeria at this time.
Governor Buni stated this in his congratulatory message to Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, through his Media Aide, Mamman Mohammed, Naija News reports.
According to him, the people of Nigeria have spoken with great hope for a better Nigeria through the Tinubu/Shettima Presidency.
Buni argued that Tinubu is a true Nigerian who accommodates Nigerians from various ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
“His experience in transforming Lagos State would no doubt be used for the transformation of a larger Nigeria,” the former APC national chairman said.
