Justice Iniekinimi Abraham Uzaka of the Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Yenagoa, on Thursday adjourned to June 14 the suit by Ijaw Right Activist, Collins Opumie, over his alleged two years illegal detention in a secret cell by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).
Justice Uzaka asked Opumie’s Counsel, Ebipreye Sese to put his house in order and ensure the error in the address of service to the first sets of defendants is corrected under the rule of the court.
Speaking with newsmen, after the court sitting, Ebipreye Sese, assured that though the unlawful arrest and detention suit filed against the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigeria Police is at the preliminary stages, “a request for an accelerated hearing will be filed at the next hearing.”
Sese indicated that the suit filed by True man Opumie against his illegal arrest and detention by the operatives of the DSS on the alleged prompting of the security department of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NOAC, who falsely accused him of being a threat to the company is right and just.
” My client has the right to seek redress, Sese, insisted.”
