National Dev: Rivers only remembered when there’s need to exploit from us — Gov Fubara

VANGUARD

GOVERNOR Siminialayi Fubara says Rivers state hardly gains deserved federal attention when it comes to national development and only remembered where there is a need to exploit from the state.

Fubara, while receiving the management of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) who visited him in Port Harcourt requesting his administration’s support at advancing the Onne Free Zone and Ikpokiri Green Island, said Rivers would no longer be generous in supporting such courses without assured benefits to the state.

He told the Managing Director of the OGFZA, Sen Tijjani Kaura, “We are only remembered when there is a need to exploit from Rivers state. Oil and Gas Free Zone Onne has never and is not contributing to the welfare of this state. We all have to sit down and look at things properly. It is no longer charity. This time around, we mean business.”

He wondered why the OGFZA shouldn’t be worried about the deplorable state of the East-West Road that has caused untold hardship for motorists as heavy trucks from their operations contribute to the failed state of the road.
