Sanwo-Olu: Yoruba council worldwide sends open letter to President Tinubu over rejected commissioner nominees

NAIJA NEWS

A group under the aegis of Yoruba Council Worldwide has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the political crisis in Lagos urgently.

This platform understands that the group, in an open letter signed by its President, Aare Oba Hassan Oladotun, on Monday, appealed to the president to proffer a lasting solution between the executive and legislative arm of the State.

Naija News earlier reported that the Lagos Assembly had disqualified seventeen of the thirty-nine commissioner nominees sent to it by the Governor.

Recall that 22 of the Commissioner nominees were confirmed by the lawmakers last Wednesday

According to reports, the rejection of Sanwo-Olu’s 17 nominees was a confirmation of a rumoured cold war going on within the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Stakeholders, politicians, and some government officials disclosed that the rejection resulted from a cold war among political gladiators, power brokers, and stakeholders in the state.

Multiple sources claim that the Mudashiru Obasa-led Lagos Assembly only acted on the scripts written by different aggrieved interest groups to pass a message to Governor Sanwo-Olu.

However, according to sources, some of the nominees were disqualified by the lawmakers due to their alleged inability to account for some financial transactions, as well as their lack of participation in party affairs.

Reacting to this development, the group called on President Tinubu to guide the state’s leadership to resolve the matter.

The full letter is below;

“The recent scenario concerning Lagos State Commissioner list brouhaha between the Executive and Legislative arm really deserves your fatherly review and leadership urgent intervention.

“As President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, however, your continued leadership guidance, strategic engagement, and tactical roles in Yoruba Land and particularly Lagos State political landscape and development remains very crucial and sacrosanct more than the past, most importantly to keep the foundation base politically intact.

“Sir, having noticed the religious bickering and unmitigated attrition and the attendant discords overtaken the fundamental democratic tenets, civil decorum, and ethical principles in Lagos State between Mr. Governor and…
