Technology giant Meta has successfully resolved the temporary downtime experienced by its social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, on Tuesday.
Earlier, many Nigerians had expressed frustration over the outages, reporting difficulties accessing the platforms. This unexpected issue prompted users to turn to alternative social media platforms, such as X, to voice their concerns and seek solutions.
In response to the situation, Meta’s Communication Officer, Andy Stone, confirmed the shutdown via his X profile, assuring users that their team was actively working to resolve the problem.
Approximately one hour after the downtime began in Nigeria, many users noticed that they could once again access their Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the owner of X, took a playful jab at Meta Platforms regarding the outages. He posted, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”
