In a significant ruling, a Kano High Court situated in Miller Road has handed down a death sentence to Chinese national Frank Geng-Quangrong for the murder of his girlfriend in Kano back in 2022.
Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji delivered the verdict on Tuesday, finding the accused guilty of the crime and subsequently sentencing him to death by hanging until his last breath.
The case dates back to September 2022 when Geng-Quangrong was apprehended and detained by the police on charges of culpable homicide for the killing of his 22-year-old girlfriend, Ummukulsum Buhari, at her residence in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso LGA of Kano.
The prosecution argued that the act violated the provisions of Section 221(b) of the Penal Code Law.
This ruling underscores the gravity of the crime and sends a strong message regarding the consequences of such actions within the jurisdiction.
