Pregnant woman could receive lengthy jail term for criticizing tomato puree

A woman could be jailed after she wrote a critical review of a can of tomato puree.

Manufacturers Erisco Foods said Chioma Okoli, 39, had damaged their brand’s reputation when she said the product was “too sweet.” She is now being prosecuted in a civil court in Lagos, Nigeria, following the comments.

Taking to Facebook, she asked her 18,000 followers to share their thoughts on the brand’s Tomato Mix after sharing a picture of an opened can. But it was then that the negativity rolled in.

One commenter said: “Stop spoiling my brother’s product. If [you] don’t like it, use another one than bring it to social media or call the customer service.” Okoli then replied: “Help me advise your brother to stop ki***ing people with his product, yesterday was my first time of using and it’s pure sugar.”
