Terror on Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway: Gunmen abduct 20 travellers, one shot in Knee

Tragedy struck on Sunday evening when suspected gunmen abducted no fewer than 20 travellers along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State. The incident occurred around 8 pm when the assailants ambushed the victims between the Sagamu Area Command of the Nigeria Police and Ilisan township.

According to Wemmy Osude, the Chairman of the Ilisan Development Council, one of the abducted travellers, a resident of Ilisan Remo, sustained a gunshot wound to the knee and is currently receiving medical attention at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

 “A resident of Ilisan (name unconfirmed) was reportedly shot in the knee and is receiving medical attention at Babcock Teaching Hospital. Other victims were taken into the bush. While waiting for additional information, please contact your loved ones who may be plying that road at about this time to be cautious.

I have spoken to the Sagamu Area Commander about this incident, and hopefully, we trust that all the security agents will go after these criminals and rescue these people.” he said

The state police command is yet to confirm the incident.

  1. It is unfortunate that the government is doing very little in solving this problem. This is why I am staying in a foreign country: my country is not safe! You can’t go to your farm you can’t move on the roads ;even one is not safe in one’s home and yet we have all manners of security outfits, with senior officers drawing hefty salaries. We have leaders getting millions of naira in salaries, and police officers who have to resort to extortion to survive. What a shameful nation. The affluence demonstrated by politicians shows they are out of touch with realities. Shame on Nigerian leaders
