Nigerian students in Russia face deportation over NIS fail to renew passports

DAILY POST

Some Nigerian students including those from Niger State are allegedly at the brink of deportation from Moscow, Russia back to the country, following their inability to renew their International Passports.

It was gathered they were unable to renew their travel documents due to the purported lack of materials for printing new passports.

The undergraduate students disturbed by the development, were said to have called their parents about the impending deportation from Russia should they fail to renew their document.

There were reports that the green cards of the undergraduates were on the brink of expiration and all efforts to renew them failed as the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Russia claimed it has no materials to renew their passports.

Decrying the situation, a parent, Yakubu Tauheed Bina said for his son to return to the country and renew his document, it would cost him over N5 million.

Speaking to Journalists in Minna, Bina stated, ” I wonder why the Nigerian Embassy in Russia has failed to find a lasting solution to the challenge. Asking, “Is the federal government of Nigeria not funding the embassy in that country?”.
