In an effort to promote health and ensure the well-being of both police personnel and residents affected by the recent floods in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas, the Borno State Police Command has launched a medical outreach at Mashimami Barracks, Maiduguri.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso.
According to Daso, the outreach is part of the police’s ongoing community engagement initiative.
“The Commissioner of Police for Borno State, CP ML Yusufu, spearheaded a coordinated effort to enhance the health and safety of both police personnel and community members through this medical outreach at Mashimami Barracks, Maiduguri,” the statement read.
The initiative also highlights the humanitarian contributions of the National POWA President, Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun, who provided relief materials and medications to flood-affected victims in the state.
The outreach is expected to benefit over 500 residents, including vulnerable members of the community, by offering free medical consultations, health screenings (blood pressure, blood glucose, and malaria), distribution of medical supplies, and relief items. Additionally, the program includes disaster risk reduction awareness, hygiene, and sanitation education.
