Matawalle on insecurity: We won’t rest until every Nigerian is safe

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has assured the people of the North West that the Federal Government will not rest until peace is fully restored in the region and Nigeria as a whole.

He stated that a security assessment is being conducted to determine the safety of Nigerians, emphasizing that the government will not stop until citizens are safe across the country.

During a comprehensive security assessment tour of Sokoto State, the Minister highlighted that the visit was part of the Federal Government’s strategic efforts to address the ongoing insecurity in the North-West region.

While visiting Gundumi village, Matawalle assured residents that the long-closed Gundumi-Isa road would be reopened without delay, with a military camp to be established along the route to enhance security and boost economic activities.

“The president is fully committed to ending insecurity in Northern Nigeria, and we are here to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” he said.

In Isa Local Government Area, the minister urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. He also visited Turba village, where he promised the deployment of additional military personnel to strengthen security.

Matawalle commended troops at the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Birni for their resilience and dedication, pledging prompt attention to their welfare and logistical needs.

In Sabon Birni, the Minister appealed to the local community to support the military and offer prayers for the troops defending the nation.

He also announced plans to establish a military base between Sabon Birni and Tsamaye to enhance regional security.

The Minister further visited villages affected by banditry, such as Hawan Duro and Mai Lalle, and assured residents of additional military personnel deployment while pledging that displaced residents would soon return home.

In Goronyo LGA, Matawalle reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to establish military camps along critical routes and acknowledged the support of the Sokoto State Government.
