Nigeria Police to press charges against 113 foreign nationals in major cybercrime crackdown

Abuja, November 3 — In a sweeping operation, the Nigeria Police Force has arrested 130 suspects, including 113 foreign nationals, on charges of high-level cybercrimes and other offenses threatening national security. The detainees include 87 males and 26 females from China and Malaysia, along with 17 Nigerians.

The Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday, noting that the operation took place at a building near Next Cash and Carry in the Jahi area of Abuja, where the suspects were allegedly conducting criminal activities using computers and other advanced devices.

“This strategic operation, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, included officers from the Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC),” Adejobi reported.

A statement on Sunday by the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, added that 17 of the suspects are Nigerians.
