SEVERAL polls that have projected Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi as the likely winner of the 2023 presidential elections are overstating support for him, a report by Fitch, a global rating company, has said.
The ICIR had reported how the former Anambra State governor was predicted to win the 2023 election by multiple online polls, including the Anap Foundation.
In two of the polls, Obi had a lead of more than 15 percentage points over Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Analysts also believe that if Obi could keep energising young, urban voters across the country’s main divides of religion, geography and ethnicity, he may well redraw Nigeria’s electoral map.
Obi also led his two major opponents by 75.5 per cent in a Twitter poll conducted by The ICIR in September.
