Obaship Tussle: Ipokia ruling house warns Gov Abiodun, others against contempt

A ruling house in Ipokia, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, has cautioned Governor Dapo Abiodun to discontinue his support for Yisa Olusola Olaniyan who still parades himself as the Onipokia of Ipokia despite a court decree ordering his dethronement in March 2022.

In a fresh letter dated December 13, 2022 and seen by Peoples Gazette, the Iwaye-Dodo royal family referenced Justice O. Ogunfowora’s judgement issued on March 3, 2022 which ordered Mr Olaniyan to vacate the royal stool pending the “hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice for injunction” filed by Adebola Asade, Adepegba Asade and Akinleye Alaba Asade, all princes and princess of the royal family.

The selection of Mr Olaniyan as the monarch had been disputed in a statement of claim dated May 30, 2019, also seen by The Gazette.
