Buttigieg Blunders In East Palestine
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg traveled to East Palestine, Ohio, on Thursday, 20 days after the Norfolk Southern toxic train derailment upended the Ohio town. Buttigieg has come under criticism for not responding to the incident publically sooner and for lacking transparency with the press. Here he is defending his response:
“Was it a mistake not to come here sooner?”
BUTTIGIEG: “What I tried to do was balance two things: my desire to be involved and engaged and on the ground, which is how I’m generally wired to act, and my desire to follow the norm.”
