Questions are beginning to mount about what is going on with Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) after he reportedly co-sponsored legislation this week despite being hospitalized in a mental health facility.
The news comes after Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland in mid-February for a multi-week stay to deal with severe depression.
Fetterman joined Sens. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and J.D. Vance (R-OH) on Wednesday in introducing the Railway Safety Act of 2023 following the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
This bill would:
Enhance train safety procedures.
Increase rail car inspections for those carrying hazardous materials.
Require two-person crews aboard every train.
Force rail carriers to face heightened fines for wrongdoing.
