Peter Obi celebrates Nigeria’s Saheed Aderinto for winning $300,000 Dan David Prize


Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, has congratulated Nigerian-born Saheed Aderinto, a Professor of History and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University, for winning the $300,000 Dan David Prize.

Obi disclosed that the Dan David Prize is the largest historical prize in the world.

According to a statement contained in a post via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, Obi claimed Aderinto is the First and only Nigerian to have been awarded such a prestigious prize.

He said it was in recognition of Aderinto’s outstanding scholarship in the field of history.

The former Anambra State governor said he was thrilled about Aderinto’s achievements, stating that he placed Nigeria on the global map.
