White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre downplayed President Joe Biden recently falling down while on stage during a graduation ceremony.
Biden, 80, fell on Thursday during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs.
The incident was one of several major falls that he has had as president, including repeatedly falling down the stairs of Air Force One and falling over his bicycle while standing.
A reporter asked Jean-Pierre about the matter during Tuesday’s press briefing, specifically if anyone was reviewing the advance staffing — meaning the people who are responsible for scheduling, planning, and executing Biden’s events anywhere he goes.
“Here’s the thing: We are not,” Jean-Pierre responded. “Things happen. Other presidents have had similar situations, as you know, and I’m sure you’ve reported on the last president who’s had a similar situation.”
