JUST IN: Anambra gets new police commissioner

The Police Service Commission has appointed CP Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye as the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State.

Following the appointment, CP Adeoye would be replacing the immediate-past Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Echeng Echeng, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to Zone 9, Umuahia.

This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists in Awka on Friday by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Police Service Commission, Ikechukwu Ani.

According to Ani, the Commission also approved the appointments of seven other Commissioners of Police for different states in the country, while also commending the Acting Inspector-General of Police for being gender sensitive in the appointments.

The statement titled, ‘PSC approves appointment of eight command CPs, commends acting IGP for gender sensitivity, draws his attention to 15 percent geo-political spread’.
