Former Chelsea striker, Chris Sutton wants Bruno Fernandes not to captain Manchester United again following the midfielder’s recent outburst.
Recall that Man United manager recently appointed Fernandes as the club’s new captain before the new Premier League season started.
The 28-year-old took over the armband from axed skipper, Harry Maguire.
The Portugal international was frustrated during his side’s Premier League 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday and was booked by referee Michael Oliver for dissent.
Fernandes was still stewing after the game and in a post-match interview he demanded an ‘apology’ from the refereeing body PGMOL after a penalty was not awarded when Alejandro Garnacho’s first-half shot smashed into Cristian Romero’s outstretched arm.
However, Sutton feels Fernandes’ comments and behaviour are not befitting of the armband, insisting that he is not a leader and should not captain Man United.
