Singer Ellie Goulding shares update with fans after close call with firework at concert

Ellie Goulding shared an update with fans after she had a close call with a firework during a concert in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, last weekend.

The 36-year-old singer/songwriter assured her 14 million Instagram followers that she was okay after the incident, saying she wasn’t “directly” hit in the face with the pyrotechnic at the Victorious Festival, Fox News reported.

“To those asking I am ok!” Goulding wrote. “Pyro didn’t hit me directly in the face. Face is intact.”

“Love you thank you x,” she added, along with a firework emoji.

In a video that surfaced on TikTok, Goulding was in the middle of singing her hit song “Miracle” when a firework shot up through the stage right underneath her, causing the singer to flinch.

She’s overheard saying “F—k” and seen covering her face before continuing to perform.

Goulding’s not the first performer who’s had to deal with errant pyrotechnics during concert shows, the outlet noted. In 2015, the lead guitarist for the pop band 5 Seconds of Summer, Michael Clifford, accidentally walked into a pyrotechnics display and caught his hair on fire, causing burns to his face.

Clifford later shared a post updating his fans how he was doing.

“What the f—ks up,” the rocker wrote. “Sorry I couldn’t finish the encore, but at least I look like two face. Thanks for worrying every1 x.”

In 2019, Spanish pop star Joana Sainz García was fatally injured on stage when a pyrotechnics malfunction occurred.

Goulding previously opened up about her mental health struggles since giving birth to her son Arthur, People magazine noted.
