Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has said the federal government would create jobs for citizens by mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Balarabe Lawal said the federal government over the years has issued a total sum of ₦27 billion Green Bond for the purpose of financing climate-smart projects.
Lawal said this on Wednesday while delivering his speech at the 8th Meeting of the Green Bond Advisory Group in Lagos.
Lawal called for collaboration between governments and private sector “particularly financial institutions, development partners and capital market operators to create a robust ecosystem that supports green investments as well as drive impactful changes to our environment.”
“For the purpose of financing climate-smart projects across various sectors, over the past few years Nigeria issued two Green Bonds amounting to a total sum of ₦27 billion.
