Kano State Govt Sets Up New Minimum Wage Committee

The Kano State government has established a committee on the implementation of the new N70,000 minimum wage.

The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Kano Government House by the Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, on behalf of the governor, Abba Yusuf.

In a statement by the Deputy governor’s spokesman, Ibrahim Shuaibu, Governor Yusuf disclosed that the committee’s responsibility is to plan effectively for the newly approved minimum wage and to present a practical recommendation for the state government’s immediate implementation.

The statement added that the committee has three weeks to present its recommendations to the government.

Yusuf expressed the belief that the implementation of the new minimum wage would increase the development of the state across all sectors, as the welfare of workers is a government priority.
