Labour Party Rejects Soludo’s Proposed LG Polls In Anambra, Takes Legal Action

The Anambra State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has threatened to head to court as it formally declines to endorse the forthcoming local government election slated for September 28.

During a press conference over the weekend, the state working committee of the party addressed journalists, revealing its intention to pursue legal action against what it characterizes as the rushed modification of the state electoral laws by the House of Assembly, allegedly in response to the directives of the state Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.

LP said: “The trending matter of the moment as we all know, is the proposed forthcoming Anambra State Local Government elections.

“As much as the State House of Assembly did not make any budgetary provisions for the proposed Council Election, we are shocked and at a loss as to the speed of amendments upon amendment of the State Electoral Law even extending into the wee hours of the night.
