The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), through its head of information department, Benson Upah, has rejected the allegations levelled against its National President, Joe Ajaero, by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), describing it as ‘plain mischief’.
Naija News reported that the police had accused Ajaero of involvement in terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime, and other related offences.
The accusations came through a letter dated August 19, 2024, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Adamu Muazu on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team.
The letter summoned Ajaero for questioning and warned that a warrant of arrest would be issued if he failed to appear for interrogation on Tuesday.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Upah condemned the charges, stressing they were aimed at discrediting the Labour movement.
