Just In: I’m Still Very Much In Charge – Eguavon

The interim coach of the Super Eagles, Austin Eguavon, has dismissed reports that he resigned after Nigeria’s match with Rwanda on Tuesday.

Eguavon, in the early morning on Wednesday, on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, said his statement was taken out of context.

Eguavon had stated that the interim contract he signed with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was to lead the Super Eagles in the Benin Republic and Rwanda qualifier matches for the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles legend noted that he would sit down with the leadership of NFF to discuss on the next move. He explained that he is still very much in charge of leading the team for the moment.

Eguavon said, “It’s quite unfortunate that people trigger something that is not correct and the situation we are in now, we don’t need negative stories.

“I only talked about how I will sit down with the hierarchy of the Federation after these two games and see how we will prosecute…
