Kebbi appeals for federal aid, as floods displace thousands

The Kebbi State Government has appealed to the Federal Government to urgently come to its aid following devastating floods that hit the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, made the plea in Birnin Kebbi while addressing a press conference on Friday on the magnitude of the flood that wreaked havoc on people and their property across the state.

He explained that the flood, which led to the death of many people, also submerged 858,311 farmlands, while 329,092 households were rendered homeless.

The commissioner said: “It is worthy to note that a total of 329,092 households were displaced by floods in the state, 858,311 farmlands submerged, while a number of people lost their lives.

“In Birnin Kebbi local government, two people lost their lives, Ngaski LG, seven people, Maiyama LG, eight, Kalgo LG, five, while Jega LG lost seven people to this…
