'It was tequila terror at 60,000ft': Boozed up holidaymakers arrested by armed police at Gatwick after huge row breaks out on flight from Cancun

Holidaymakers onboard a rowdy TUI flight have described the moment seven ‘drunk and unruly’ passengers were arrested by armed police in Gatwick after causing ‘tequila terror’ which saw them abuse staff during a flight from Cancun.

Fellow passengers claim the group of men and women had been swigging from large bottles of duty-free-bought tequila before they opened an agressive tirade against staff who had told them to ‘calm down.’

The group allegedly became beturbed after the staff stopped serving them alchohol midway through the cross-Atlantic flight from Mexico and had refused to hand their passports to cabin crew.

One eyewitness said he was appalled by the ‘disgusting’ language used by the group, as terrified young families also awoke to the chaotic scene unfolding this morning.

Upon landing, the group were escorted off the runway at Gatwick by armed police officers carrying guns and tasers.
