LaLiga: He didn’t insult anybody – Real Madrid legend defends Courtois

Real Madrid Legend, Roberto Carlos has defended Thibaut Courtois after Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone accused him of provoking fans during both teams’ La Liga 1-1 draw at the weekend.

Recall that shortly after Eder Militao’s goal, the La Liga derby was suspended as Atletico Madrid fans threw various objects, including lighters, at Courtois.

Speaking about the incident after the game, Simeone claimed Courtois should not have taunted the fans during his celebrations.

However, Carlos believes the Belgian keeper did not incite Atletico fans with any gestures or insults.

The Brazilian said (via Madrid Universal): “Everyone knows when they are wrong. I think they are a bit wrong because Courtois didn’t return the lighters to the stands either.

“He didn’t make any gestures or insult anyone.”
