Servicom Week: Imo CP sets up monitoring unit against erring police officers

In responding to public complaints against the unprofessional attitude of some police officers in the state, ranging from extortion to unlawful searching of citizens’ phones, mostly youths, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, in a bid to address the situation, has set up a special unit known as Complain Response Unit, CRU, to monitor and investigate the attitude of some of its officers while on duty.

A press statement issued by the command public relations officer, ASP Henry Okoye, informed that the purpose of establishing the unit emanated from recent community feedback, which according to him raised serious concerns about the uncivil conduct of a few of its officers towards members of the public while on the road.

He stated that the unit would work along with the IGP X Squad unit to investigate the allegations levelled against some of the officers.
