Bayelsa, DHQ To partner on ending crude oil theft

The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has expressed his dissatisfaction with high profile oil theft in the Niger Delta as he agrees collaboration with the defence headquarters to curb the menace.

He made this known during a courtesy call from the Joint Monitoring Team on oil and gas, Defence Headquarters, Abuja to the government house in Yenagoa.

The Joint Monitoring Team of the Defense Headquarters, Abuja is the military arm responsible for all activities related to the extraction, transportation and security of crude oil and gas in Nigeria.

Paying a courtesy call on Governor Douye Diri at the government house, they seek partnership in ensuring the safety of the oil and gas infrastructure in Bayelsa State.

The Governor bemoaned the involvement of some military personnel in oil theft while seeking more responsive action by oil companies in the State.

The partnership is set to further improve Nigeria’s production quota in the oil and gas  industry.
