Dangote Refinery has confirmed it will formally withdraw its lawsuit against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and other oil marketers by January 2025.
This lawsuit aimed to revoke the fuel importation licenses of these entities.
According to Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, the issue began in June, but recent events, including President Bola Tinubu’s directive on crude oil and refined products sales in the Naira Initiative, have made the lawsuit outdated.
Chiejina clarified that no court processes have been served, and there are no plans to do so.
The parties involved have agreed to halt proceedings, and the matter will be formally withdrawn in court once it’s brought up in January 2025.
