US election: Trump wants supporters to ‘help’ Democrats pay campaign debt

United States (U.S.) President-elect Donald Trump has extended an offer to aid the debt-laden Democratic campaign led by Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

According to Politico, despite raising over $1 billion, the Harris-Walz campaign reportedly faces a $20 million deficit.

In a post on his verified X account on Saturday, Trump, who rallied his supporters to contribute towards alleviating the Democrats’ financial strain, described it as a step towards unity in a politically fractured America.

He said, “I am very surprised that the Democrats, who fought a hard and valiant fight in the 2020 Presidential Election, raising a record amount of money, didn’t have lots of $’s left over. Now they are being squeezed by vendors and others. 

“Whatever we can do to help them during this difficult period, I would strongly recommend we, as a Party and for the sake of desperately needed UNITY, do. We have a lot of money left over in that our biggest asset…
