The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, said the service made N28.1 billion worth of seizures as of November 12, 2024.
Adeniyi disclosed this in his remarks at the Comptroller General of Customs 2024 Conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to him, the seizures indicate success in the service mandate in protecting both Nigerians and the economy.
He noted that the seizures include contraband items such as wildlife, arms, and ammunition to narcotics and pharmaceutical products.
“Fulfilling our enforcement mandate, we have achieved unprecedented success in protecting both our citizens and economy.
“The scale of our intervention is reflected in seizures valued at NGN 28.1 billion and counting in 2024 alone.
“These seizures span critical areas of national concern—from wildlife items and arms and ammunition to narcotics and pharmaceutical products,” he stated.
